Chief Commercialisation Officer (CCO)
As CCO at Hudson, Rob has an overall portfolio responsibility for the management and commercialisation of Institute IP. He has over 35 years of experience working in medical research (Baker IDI and Hudson Institute), healthcare services (Melbourne Health and Southern Health) and commercial organisations (Pacific Dunlop and Deloitte Consulting). He is currently on the Boards of two biotechnology start-up companies, is a non-Executive Director of ASX listed cancer therapeutics company Invion Limited, and has been a Director of two Venture Capital Funds and a Director and Company Secretary of several biotechnology-focused medical research institute spin off companies.

Further, Rob has been the Hudson Institute lead in attracting three separate multi-million dollar investments in the translation of discovery science into new treatments for patients: Investments from Roche Pharmaceuticals, from a Boston based Venture Capital fund and from an Australian Venture Capital fund.

 

Ms Carmela Monger, Patent Attorney, BSc, MSc, GAICD

Business Development Manager
Carmela brings more than 23 years’ experience managing the intellectual property portfolios for businesses in private practice and medical research to Hudson Institute, including oversight of the strategic commercialisation of technologies in Australia and overseas. Carmela is a registered patent attorney and graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. She was recently a Director of Nexpep Pty Ltd and the Victorian Cancer Biobank. She has secured high-value license deals with pharma, venture capital and biotech and was actively involved in a landmark monetisation deal at the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute.

At Hudson, Carmela manages and contributes to a range of activities including intellectual property management, opportunity identification and analysis, research and marketing of commercial projects, investor and partner relations, commercial agreements and technology transfer.

Commercialisation Associate
Ryan comes from a science commercialisation background, having obtained a Master of Biotechnology from the University of Melbourne before joining Hudson Institute. He recently worked as an intern in the Business Development team of the University of Melbourne Faculty of Engineering and IT. Previously, Ryan completed his Bachelor of Biomedical Science Honours research year in ovarian cancer at Hudson Institute.

Ryan supports Hudson Institute’s Business Development Office in a spectrum of activities, including invention disclosure assessments, market research, patent searching, commercial agreements, technology transfer, and IP management.
