The Junior Research Assistant/Research assistant will work closely with Professor Rosemary Horne and Associate Professor Gillian Nixon whose research focuses on sleep in children. The Research Assistant will be involved in maintaining databases and entering research data. They will also be involved in recruiting children for various research studies being carried out in the Department of Paediatrics and Melbourne Children’s Sleep Centre.
Typical activities for this role include:
- Assist in recruitment of subjects for research projects and make bookings for testing associated with research projects. Be responsible for ensuring timely contact with families enrolled in research projects to ensure related testing occurs according to study protocols
- Assist in the scoring and data entry of sleep, psychological and behaviour assessments;
- Assist in the conduct of physiological experiments in infants and children during sleep including setting up recording equipment, data collection and analysis and preparation of results and reports;
- Maintaining databases and assisting students as required.
A Bachelor of Science, Biomedical Science, Neuroscience with Honours and at least 1-2 years of relevant work experience, is required.
Familiarity with Compumedics sleep recording equipment and LabChart software would be an advantage.
