Hudson Seminar Series (R U Ok?) | Geoffrey Ahern
R U Ok (during this worldwide pandemic)?
Geoffrey Ahern is a Senior Mental Health Clinician at the Emergency Department of the Royal Melbourne Hospital and has been, along with many others, on the frontline from the beginning of this pandemic.
When not in the ED Geoffrey is on the Crisis Intake Line for Melbourne Health which involves taking emergency mental health referrals from various professionals, assessing the person on the phone and then linking them in with local crisis support teams.
The Crisis Intake Line also provides support to the Victorian Police Critical Incidence Response Team (CIRT), the Premier’s Office when distressed people email or call the office, and conducts mental health assessments for people in Hotel Quarantine who are facing mental health challenges.
In this seminar, Geoffrey will be speaking about the current pandemic, coping with the ongoing lockdowns in Melbourne, and why it is essential to prioritise self-care as a way of avoiding succumbing to poor mental health.
