Dr Tiwaporn (Tiwa) Nualkaew is a postdoctoral scientist in Immunohaematology research group. Her current work focuses mainly on developing novel gene therapy strategy for β-haemoglobinopathies. Her research involves the use of RNA interference and lentiviral vector technologies to manipulate α- and β-globin gene expression, the key factors contributing to disease pathology, in clinically relevant cellular model and patient-derived haematopoietic stem cells.
Dr Nualkaew completed her PhD in the Thalassemia Research Center at the Institute of Molecular Biosciences, Mahidol University, Thailand (2019), where she developed alternative gene-based therapeutic approaches for treatment of β-thalassaemias.
