Honours courses offered at Hudson Institute aim to provide students with a higher level of experience in independent analysis, and research in their chosen area of expertise.
Each Honours course has its own requirements and deadlines. Students should check the relevant Monash University Faculty and Department websites, and begin looking for potential research projects/supervisors early in semester two.
The following Honours degrees can be undertaken at Hudson Institute
Students should first choose an area (or areas) of research that interests them. To view available Hudson Institute projects, search the Hudson Student Projects .
Once a project has been identified, students are encouraged to contact (call or email) supervisors listed to discuss projects and meet research teams. This can be done anytime throughout the year. Research project information.
Our annual Graduate Research Expo in August is a great way for students to explore the wide range of projects available and meet our researchers and current students.
Bachelor of Medical Science (Honours)
Hudson Institute has a wealth of research expertise and dedicated researchers who work closely with colleagues in Monash Health, Victoria’s largest health service. Our researchers are at the forefront of clinical translational research with research strengths in inflammatory diseases, cancer, infant and child health and reproductive health and pregnancy.
Medical students can apply for BMedSc(Hons) after year 3B of the Monash Medical Degree or an equivalent level of another Australian or International medical degree. Graduate entrants are also accepted. Please refer to the following links for entry requirements.

Bachelor of Biomedical Science (Honours)
Monash students must complete all requirements for the degree of Bachelor of Biomedical Science at Monash University, or a comparable qualification in biomedical science. Monash students require a distinction grade average (70% or higher) with at least 24 credit points at third-year level (including 12 points in biomedical science core units). Students applying for admission based on comparable qualifications in biomedical science will need to demonstrate that they have achieved an appropriate standard in studies comparable to the biomedical science core units and have an appropriate academic standard at third-year level.
The Biomedical Research Project component of the Honours year (BMS4100) and the coursework component of your Honours year (BMS4200) are run by Hudson Institute and School of Clinical Sciences (SCS), based at the Monash Medical Centre.

Bachelor of Science (Honours)
Students must meet the requirements of the Discipline in which they intend to undertake the coursework component of the course. Prerequisite is successful completion of a Bachelor of Science (or equivalent) with at least distinction average (70 per cent) with 24 credit points for level three units (or equivalent) in the intended honours discipline. The coursework component of the Honours year will be run by the discipline in which the student enrols. This will be the one most appropriate to your research component, not necessarily the one in which you undertook your level three major studies. The research project component can be carried out at Hudson Institute (BMH4100).
