Highly regarded reproductive specialist promoted

Highly regarded reproductive specialist on uterine receptivity and placental development, Guiying Nie (Research Group Head, Implantation and Placental Development, Centre for Reproductive Health) has been promoted to Adjunct Professor.
Prof Nie is a respected reproductive biologist and works closely with specialist clinicians to address key women’s health issues, with a current focus on the uterus and intrauterine environment for embryo implantation, placental development, and long-term health consequences.
Research Group Head for Implantation and Placental Development at Hudson Institute, Prof Nie, is an authority on uterine receptivity and placental development.
“I am both overjoyed and humbled by this recognition – the promotion represents a major career milestone and it gives me greater confidence to continue to pursue the career I really love,” said Prof Nie.
Prof Nie is a respected reproductive biologist and works closely with specialist clinicians to address key women’s health issues, with a current focus on the uterus and intrauterine environment for embryo implantation, placental development, and long-term health consequences.
“I am lucky to work in a rewarding and innovative area of research; currently my team are looking at embryo implantation, endometrial cancer, placental development and diseases of pregnancy, particularly pre-eclampsia,” said Prof Nie.
“I would like to thank my group and everyone else who has helped my career over the years, in particular my long term mentor Professor Lois Salamonsen. I would also like to thank Professor Bryan Williams for his support.”
Prof Nie obtained her PhD from the University of Essex, UK, and completed her postdoctoral training at the Brookhaven National Laboratory in New York, USA. She joined Prince Henry’s Institute in 1995 (now Hudson Institute) and is a Fellow of the Society of Reproductive Biology.
With over 100 peer-reviewed publications in top discipline-specific or high impact general journals, Prof Nie is a sought after speaker and has presented her work at numerous national and international conferences.
Prof Nie has served on a number of editorial boards, including a current position on the Editorial Board of Reproductive Sciences, and is regularly asked to review major national and international grants.
Prof Nie has been an NHMRC Senior Research Fellow since 2008, and receives funding support from the National Health and Medical Research Council of Australia, Monash IVF, the CASS Foundation, and international funding bodies such as the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (USA), Ferring (Switzerland) and ESHRE (Europe).
