Biography
Dr Atefeh (Ati) Yaftiyan is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Hudson Institute of Medical Research, working in the Lawlor laboratory. Her current research focuses on inflammation, cell death and neutrophil biology, with a particular interest in understanding how these processes contribute to inflammatory and autoimmune diseases.
Atefeh completed her PhD in the University of Melbourne at the Peter Doherty Institute, where she investigated the mechanisms of antigen presentation and CD8 T cell priming following mRNA vaccination. Before and during her PhD, Atefeh developed broad experience in immunology and preclinical research, including flow cytometry, in vivo mouse models, molecular techniques, immune response profiling, and mRNA-LNP vaccine development. She is particularly interested in understanding fundamental immune mechanisms to inform the design and development of vaccines.
