Biography

Dr Gabriel Goncalves is a post-doctoral cancer researcher holding joint appointments in A/Prof Pouya Faridi’s laboratory at Hudson Institute, and in the Monash Proteomics and Metabolomics Platform (MPMP) – Clinical Proteomics Node.

Dr Goncalves works on identifying actionable immunotherapy targets across a variety of cancers, as well as improving the workflows and methodologies to make these discoveries possible.

Dr Goncalves did his undergraduate studies at Monash University, where he graduated with a first-class honours degree. He was awarded his PhD in 2024, also at Monash University, under the guidance of Professor Tony Purcell. His research focused on identifying actionable antigens and treatments for Triple Negative Breast Cancer, as well as developing novel methodologies to interrogate the peptide repertoire of non-classical HLAs, work which offers hope for universal cancer therapies.
