Biography

Dr Hamid Bidkhori is a physician-scientist working as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Translational Tissue Engineering laboratory at the Ritchie Centre, Hudson Institute of Medical Research, since 2023. His research focuses on developing cell-based therapies for pelvic floor disorders and birth trauma injuries.

Hamid is a cell and molecular biologist with medical training and experience in immunology, stem cell biology, cancer research, and tissue engineering. He completed three years as a postdoctoral researcher in immunology and served as Assistant Professor of Stem Cells and Regenerative Medicine at ACECR-KH. His industrial experience includes leadership roles as Chief Medical Officer and R&D adviser to biotechnology companies. He served as Senior Technical Director of the GMP manufacturing facility at ACECR-KH for eight years, overseeing compliance and quality standards.

Hamid’s expertise encompasses AI-based image analysis platforms, cell-free therapeutics such as extracellular vesicles, and multiomics approaches that combine spatial and single-cell transcriptomics. He has a keen enthusiasm for bioethics and serves as a member of the ISCT Ethics Committee for Gene & Cell Therapy (ECGT-ISCT) and a member and discussant on the Monash Health Human Research Ethics Committee. He is an active member of the International Society for Cell & Gene Therapy (ISCT) and the International Society for Extracellular Vesicles (ISEV)
