Identification of new treatment targets for endometriosis
Project description
Endometriosis is a chronic inflammatory disorder that affects up to 1 in 7 menstruating people. There is no cure. Current treatments are limited. Type I interferons may play a protective role against severe disease, this project looks to characterise Type I interferon profiles in people with and without endometriosis. This project will involve in silico interrogation of published endometriosis datasets to identify interferon-regulated genes. Datasets will be interrogated for gene sets that represent IFN-regulated functions, e.g. cell proliferation, survival, immune cell function. Identification of interferon regulated genes may reveal potential future therapeutic targets. This project is best suited to students who have experience with bioinformatics software e.g. R or Python.
