Congratulations to Richa Kohli, the first Robert Connor Dawes PhD scholarship recipient, awarded by the Robert Connor Dawes Foundation.
The family of Robert Dawes created the Foundation in his memory after he tragically lost his battle with brain cancer in April 2013. The Foundation contributes to research into brain tumours as well as supporting families going through similar situations with rehabilitation therapies and home assistance.
Richa joins the laboratory of Professor Terrance Johns’ which focuses on ependymoma, a tumor that arises from the ependyma, a tissue of the central nervous system. Her PhD will surround the development of new cell lines directly from ependymoma, a resource that is critically lacking around the world, and she will use these cell lines to identify new drugs for ependymoma treatment.
Richa attended the University of Delhi where she obtained a Bachelor of Science with honours in biomedical science, with a distinction grade. Richa then went on to successfully complete a research-based Masters Degree, with a first class grade. Over the past five years, Richa has worked in medical publishing.
